:)

Alright, this post with all if not most of the food pictures has been sitting in the drafts section was pretty long.
Since I am feeling up to it right now,
I thought I ought to share with you some of the lovely places babe and I has visited.

1. Etna Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria.
Duxton Road

The Duxton/Craig road area of Tanjong Pagar  has recently been littered with interesting cafes and dining outlets.
We've always enjoyed that area, together with Ann Siang.
We just enjoy walking down those little lanes together.
It's like the area is guarding some secret and every other month, we will find something interesting
From KKi Cakes , Flor to Bonheur Passterie,
Books Actually, 2D1N, Scarlet Hotel
to Biniomio
and finally Etna :)
i thought we found a pretty reasonable place for Italian Food.

So that weekend, we made an impromtu reservation,
and pop down to this quaint little outlet.
On first look, it's really cozy?
But in reality, pretty spacious inside.

Service was pretty good, but it take some getting used to understanding the italian accent.
But, we'll get by. we always do:)

and so, we got ourselves :
a marinara pizza. I lurrvveee the tomato base. It beats Mozza hands down.
To me, the base sauce of a pizza is really important and Etna did it really well!
The tomato base is tangy without being overly sour that it makes the saliva wells up.
so thumbs up for that.
I think that is sufficient for me, a good pizza = good sauce and thin crust. Otherwise, no matter how good your pepperoni, your sausage or cheese is, I also can't enjoy.

We also shared an calms aglio in olive and white wine sauce! = fragrant, smooth and extremely generous portion of sweet sweet clams.

We ended the night with a lava cake. - it pales in comparison to Pasta Inc, but its a good try nevertheless:)

ps: I included my shirt for that night. It's a Calvin Klein. But I only got it for USD$19.90 when I was down at  woodburry. Its just so versatile, taking me out of office to my casual night offs. Love CK shirts now.

New Year's Eve this year is really awesome. I forgot why I inserted this picture in this post. But maybe because I never had such a good BBQ for ageeeeeeees. Chicken Wings, HUGE prawns that cost me $2/stick at Lau Pat Sat, and scallops that we spammed with cheese.

Not to mention the moscato, riesling, champagne and vodka that we drank that night over at Rifdi's. I had a good NYE. 2012 ended with a HUGE BANG the same way 2013 started. ( If you get my drift =p )

Kilo
Kampong Bugis.
Nearest MRT : 10 minutes walk from Lavendar MRT.
Can take bus too! ( but sorry, I am not good at this. but its SUPER near town :) )

I know I CANNOT stop raving about KILO.
I'm just really proud of myself for locating this gem.
I first took babe there last year for this birthday,
and this year during our Staycation down at Fullerton,
we went back for a visit!

This time around, babe and I decided to order 3 Starters ,
1 main  and 1 pizza.
They really have very interesting Starters that's a fusion between the West and East.
We had like salmon, tuna tartare and that salsa thingie,
For mains, we had the angel hair pasta..
and THE spicy prawn PIZZA.

I won't start raving about the Starters. I just say : GO AHEAD AND TRY ANYTHING. We had went ahead and experimented the dish with the weirdest name,
and being both NON-avocado lover, we still like the tuna tatare very much!

I thought the angel hair pasta was alright, a tad too creamy for me.
But the pizza was another THUMBS UP.

We had to pack the pizza back to our hotel that night,
but surprisingly, hours after our dinner,
the pizza still taste SOOOOO GOOD even when it is like COLD?
But do note that it is extremely spicy, whats with the chili padi,
but it's a good kick,
and I enjoy myself thoroughly.
Totally worthy , even if it means I have to gulp down a few mouthfuls of coke + water + a cup of tea after that.

3. The present. Today. 25th January 2013.

Today is the first Friday since grandma left me.
one day that I wasn't feeling gloomy or depressed.
In fact I was bouncy the entire night.

B and I head down to Fukuichi Japanese Dining @ Triple One Somerset.
It's yet another impromptu decision on our part,
and we never looked back!

If there's one cuisine that babe and I love,
it'll be Japanese.
The food and price at Fukuichi  is pretty reasonable, even as we had better jap food.
But I personally feel it out-do places like Nagae, Sun w Moon.
but pales in comparison to Standing Sushi bar and Tomi sushi.

Still.... Here is what we have for $70.
His Bento Meal:

1. Yummy Wafu Salad + Octopus
2. Assorted Sashimi + Sushi  : PLEASE try their seared white tuna.
3. Tempura + Salmon Mentai : I've had better Tempura at cheaper outlets down at Plaza Singapura. and the Salmon Mentai is kinda overpowered by the pepper. ( It's just our personal preference! )
4. oh and MOchi ! ( We are just not fans of Mochi)

We love to sit at the counter, because I can peek at the chefs :D

We absolutely LOVE this chawanmushi. At only $6,  It is the BEST that we had in ages and for this, it tops places like TOMI sushi and Hide Yamamoto @ MBS.

Oh, and If you are wondering what did I get? - Just a tempura udon :) I like the presentation that's all.

and so, that concluded my Friday. - my official "1st week" back at school
and it felt like almost a month has passed.
assignments is crazy for sure, but I'll get by and I must do it.

We celebrated Rox and KS birthday today after a 7 hour marathon in school.
Yes 7 hours worth of lessons without a single break.
Still, time flies when you are having fun.

and.. because we are all in the same shit, we help each other...
by spamming junk.
and that's what make school fun
that team camaraderie.
